No I found that out as well. A couple of years ago I wanted a small hardwood garden table and a friend wanted one as well. I checked online and the nearest shop that sold them had one listed. Luckily the town has two branches of the same shop and the other one had one as well. We called in at the first shop and there was the table on display. An assistant asked if he could help and I said yes I’m interested in these tables. He asked how many and I said two. He came back with two. As you say, never trust the website.
What is the name of the chain that has the van rental?
A number of them do.
Leroy Merlin. Brico depot also do van rental.
As does Leclerc, Gifi,
I’d use Briconautes if only for the name, but our local one is also the cheapest and the two brothers who run it know everything.
Here’s another: https://www.mr-bricolage.fr/
Gifi going through business troubles at the moment, possible liquidation so I read.
good point
I’ll second the vote for BricoCash, they do seem generally to be cheaper than others. My other go to is BricoMan, based on price and range of stock. But for me it’s a 45 km drive, so only if I’ve got a large order or if they are the only ‘local’ stockist of what I need. Both have online ordering and stock levels for their stores.
The one that’s gone is Toolstation. I was in one in UK and saw the note that they were closing down in FR on 31/12/24. Pity because I’ve had quite a bit of stuff from them, on line.
And so do most/all the supermarkets.
I had that problem with a book. Hatchard’s, Ye Olde Book Shoppe on Piccadilly, reckoned to have 11 copies. An assistant went off, came back with nothing. “But your website claims to have 11. Surely there’s one or two - oh! there’s one on the pile behind your desk!”
Sheepish look - “That’s my copy”
