Do Window Cleaners Exist in France?

This seems to be more of a non-opening rooflight (or entire glazed roof) than a conventional window…

Exactly, all normal vertical windows and doors are no trouble at all, either inwardly opening or, as we have no upper floor, easily cleaned from the ground outside.
As you can see 4 of the verticles, in the veranda in question, are non opening, and 2 sliding. All no trouble at all. Just the fixed panes in the roof which need doing, but I’m sure I’m not going to pay nearly a hundred quid each for them.
It is just the four 80x60cm panes in the roof of the veranda which are the problem and, although slightly sloping, have nevertheless accumulated staining and moss from the trees which tower on 2 of the 4 sides of the building.

Well, whadyaknow, I was sitting here chatting and crunching my toast half an hour ago when the gate bell rang. Took me by surprise because it has been almost completely silent since the morning Fran died and all the frequent visitors stopped coming.

A bearded man was there mumbling about toitures and I suddenly realise he meant cleaning the roof windows on the veranda. I asked him how much and he said 40 euros. Shut the dogs in the house, opened the gate to let his car in and half an hour later, nice clean windows and he had 2 crisp ones in his hand. :joy:

The downside, albeit keeping me outside in my shirtsleeves in this frosty air? He insisted on demonstrating his produit on the white stucco. Didn’t look any cleaner to me and in any case I am happy with it the way it is.

Then, would you believe it, he wanted to buy the bloody Berlingo. I laid it on thick, half a million kms on the clock, new CT necessary, I would lose 10 month’s CT if it failed and no sale etc. etc. etc. He came back with ‘I will get it a CT’. I showed a very slight interest. But then he said ‘half a million kms, 2 thousand euros???’ and rocked his hand back and forth, he wanted to debate it.

At that point I was half way to the gate to let him out, 'Au ‘voir M’sieur, merci’.

Yes, and on a bright sunny day like today I can see the blue sky overhead without going outside. Can’t wait for the next storm at night so I can lie back and watch the lightning for the first time in years. :joy:

Should be an ‘s’ on the end of that word. But possibly more to do with being a confused old git, because it delayed me going out to the supermarket so much so that I simply shrugged and said to myself ‘I’ll go at 2.30 instead when it’s quieter’. But Thursday isn’t my supermarket day, Monday is, and Thursday is market day when I buy my fish. So no fish this week then. :face_exhaling:

Does your supermarket have no fish at all? Our nearest one has some pre-packed pavé and fillets in the chiller section that we use in a fish crisis.

Oh yes, I expect so, but I live alone and buy a piece of fresh fish from Emily on the market which I know I can divide and freeze half for later in the week. I can’t do that with frozen fish.

Also she sells various sauces applicable to fish which the supermarket does not sell. Now I am wondering if the white sauce, half of which I consumed a couple of days ago and which would have accompanied my fish tonight, can last a week 'till next Thursday. I suppose I could freeze it. :grinning:

I mixed it with the brown sauce (gravy) leftover and, nice and thick, it tasted lovely over my chippolata and veg this evening. :joy:

I was referring to fresh fish in a chiller cabinet, not a freezer. Usually sold in individual portions too. We also prefer the market, but can’t always get there.

David likes to buy from a sole trader…

The bad joke shop shouldn’t open until 9h! The rest of us need a second cup of coffee to cope.

If not too thick a cleaver should be able to divide while still frozen.

Or a band saw.
