Ghastly little pop-up windows that tell you something along the lines of you’ve now unblocked something and then beastly little numbers appear in the squares - I don’t want any of that I just want to do the puzzle in peace, can’t tell you what the boxes said exactly as I ignored them but they appeared 3 maybe 4 times
(I am obv Mrs Oliver killjoy Cromwell there shall be no cakes and ale)

Yeah I got them at the beginning but once you’ve achieved the “award” once, it’s not shown again. I’ve not seen any for ages now.

Oh sorry, I wasn’t very clear… I meant the sayings about having not rotated the board, having not guessed any wrong words, having been very quick, etc…

Ah - now I understand! I’m sure you are right about that. I thought it might be different if you were actually signed up to the things or possibly doing it on a phone, neither of which applies to me!

If you click the burger menu top left you find some special squares to keep you going. Including one with 365 words which I think I’ll leave until stuck on a desert island or equivalent

I did the Halloween special… The board is blank and letters only appear briefly as you move over them, so you have to remember what’s where.
It was horribly frustrating.

I find them useful because it saves me forever clicking over letters that are no longer the first in the word. The way I play it is to randomly click on a letter then begin to form a “pathway” of letters. Most of the time it’s garbage, but sometimes it’s a bonus word and sometimes, as I’m doing it, I realise a word is forming, or part of a word which gives me a clue.
Also, I am forever rotating the puzzle so that I don’t get stuck on a certain layout.
OH plays completely differently, he sits there looking at the partly completed puzzle and does nothing until he spots the word - that would drive me nuts!

Thank you Sue - I was using your technique for finding words and ended up with loads of bonus ones, most of which I still don’t know the meaning of.
There was a whole set of words. longish ones, that were all related so once I got one it was eaasier to find all the others.
