Feeling a bit glum. I have just had an osteodensitometrie exam and have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, not good. Having a first perfusion next week of Aclasta. Has anyone here had this treatment? The important thing seems to be to drink a lot of water before and after, to cut down side effects.
Most of us have far too low vit D levels, my Dr prescribes ‘une cure’ every winter, it’s an ampoule of a gazillion units taken once a month for 4 months. Helps with all sorts.
Oh Fleur I hope it is effective and you don’t feel ghastly.
I prefer not to over bomb my body with huge doses, lower dose more regularly.
That said vitamin D from sunlight seems far better the tablet form, something to do with the active range of D vs the storage range. Thats according to quantum biologists.
Thanks for your kind post Vero. I have had the glass vitamin D capsules every 3 months in winter for a few years now. And I try to have a good diet, walk, move about etc. I was a bit shocked to get these results.
Anyway, I have confidence in my MT and we have very good infirmières. Next is a scanner that the osteo doctor has ordered, to get more detail. And I’m sure the perfusion will help in the longer term. Just got hearing aids too! So feeling really old, and I need to get over it. 74 btw.
I am sorry you’ve had a shock. Hopefully, modern healthcare will swiftly put you to rights. Maybe yoga can help to strengthen muscles that support bones? My best wishes to you
Good point. In fact weight training helps as well - obviously light weights.
Who are you calling light weights?
@AngelaR Doesn’t pop in here often but perhaps message her?
I’ve never done yoga, being not very flexible ! Good idea though. Thanks Susanna.
I dont think anyone expects to benefit but controlled yoga or Tai Chi can have real benefits without the need to put either leg behind your head . As Sue said light weights workouts show medical improvements in bone density.
Thanks for the suggestion Corona. I have plenty of packets of rice and beans !
Thanks a lot Jane for your idea. Angela was sending me vibes yesterday afternoon and the perfusion was straightforward. I drank a lot of water before and after and feel pretty OK today. I’m relieved, to say the least !
Thanks Vero. I don’t feel ghastly ! The perfusion was straightforward. I drank lots of water before and after as advised, and slept well last night after a minor headache and a bit of dizziness.
And I’m firing on at least one cylinder today ! I’m so relieved it’s done and will likely improve the old bones.
Out of interest, with the vitamin D supplimentation are people being advised to take additional magnesium and K2, preferably K2 mk7?
My winter tests were ok for all but vitamin D, I can’t remember but could look up K2. One thing I said to my Dr was before taking vitamin D supplements I’ll trial eating sardines and other foods that naturally have small quantities of vitamin D for 6 weeks. The trial did up the levels of vitamin D but not enough.
Not a surprising result for a winter vitamin D as its the sunshine vitamin, taking a suppliment of D seems to deplete the bodies magnesium as the action of D takes up magnesium. The K2 works in a harmony with both but importantly seems to put calcium back into bones and not in the arteries (to an extent)
Dark chocolate is a good source of magnesium as are some nuts.
