Oh David, so sorry. Here’s hoping he quickly finds a new loving home. So sad for you and for the boy.

So sad. I don’t know how you manage not becoming a full time rescue home yourself.

As you say, fingers crossed Radko will very soon find a loving forever home. He must be feeling very puzzled and abandoned.

BTW I did find some comfort from this, little Galys the Setter you see on the right of the first picture which you might notice has her front paws on the grill holding her and Jules back before opening the cage door. This was because, though I didn’t realise at the time, she was in the act of jumping over that grill and down to the ground where she started to run all over Sharon’s garden. I couldn’t believe it, over 14 years old and she runs around like a Greyhound. :joy:

She is deaf, so no point in calling her and I waited 'till she had me in view again and held my hand straight up in the air before sweeping it down in a continuous motion right round 'till it was pointing in the cage. She came at speed and cleared the bumper in one leap right though the door.

I am afraid that dogs are at the mercy of wherever they are in the moment of time. Some are lucky and others are not, and those who are not have no voice in the matter.

I have just sold seven pups hoping they will have as good a life as their first twelve weeks here. It is so gratifying to get video updates - one is best friends with two boys, another a companion to an elderly bull, another living with a Spitz and another best friends with a chihuaha…

As I am reading your post just going to bed, and thinking of Radko and the boy spending a night apart, I have allowed Scarlette to come onto the bed tonight - who knows what can happen tomorrow :disappointed_relieved:

Just came across this in the NY Times report on the 2025 Westminster Dog Show (US Crufts)

If it’s in the show, there must be a dog in there somewhere…

Comet: Most Toupee!

A small white and gray dog with a very long coat has its hair pulled back from its eyes with a blue bow.

Credit…Graham Dickie/The New York Times

The Shih Tzu won the toy group for a second straight year, frequently flashing his tongue as he pranced around the ring with his long hair billowing around him as if a hairpiece had come to life. He was the smallest dog in the final, but he held his own and could have his chance at best in show in another year.

mmm. The macho in me would like to think my Scarlette would have it for breakfast, but knowing her, she would become best friends with it :joy:

:grin::laughing::joy::rofl::sweat_smile:

Cruella de Vil’s?

This alert comes from Connexion and I post it here so dog lovers can be warned to be vigilant.

Several dogs have died after consuming poison in public areas around Bordeaux since early February. Similar cases of poisoning are reported in Bordeaux every year. This year, however, the cases have been more deadly and widespread.

A Malinois died as a result of eating poisoned meatballs in the Parc Beauval (February 4), and deaths have also been reported near Lac de Versein and l’Atelier des Citernes in Amédée Saint-Germain (February 5).

Map of confirmed poisonings this year created by Catherine Leuger, a trainee vet assistant

Please all in the area be extra careful and maybe walk dogs on the lead for now.

Whoever does this cruel thing can never be justified. May they have a comparable fate.

That is evil! We once came across a huge heap of butchered meat that looked as if it had been sprinkled with rat poison. Luckily managed to grab the dog before he got any.

(Never had to use it but vet said to keep a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide available to make dog vomit if you can’t get it to vet urgently. Vet is better of course)

Also worth thinking about a light cage muzzle. I have considered one for Bertie as he thinks tissue and toilet paper are the most wonderful things to eat on the planet (don’t ask!) and when we’re out walking by the time we realise he’s found something it’s too late.

This is a good news doggy tale

Our new adopted boy, Paco, is settling in well, and is a really super (and very cuddly) dog. However he plainly suffers from acute separation anxiety, exacerbated by being previously kept permanently in a small cage for a year. We are gently getting him used to being left, for 10 minutes, then 20 minutes etc. This morning I didn’t want to risk leaving him in the car outside the boulanger even for a minute, so was tieing up his lead to the hook at the entrance, so he could see me inside. The sweet boulangère waved to me to come in. I pointed at Paco, and she said, yes, please bring him in, as long as he’s on a lead, pas de soucis.Paco was delighted at the invite to come and inspect the freshly baked bread. I just love the attitude of the boulangère. I can imagine in the UK (and possibly elsewhere) the food hygiene police having a field day at non-guide dog types coming into a food shop.

Lovely, by the angle of his perfectly poised body I would say he had a past life connected to yachting. :joy:

Seen recently at the gate.
I wonder what they are plotting

@David_Spardo and @George1 - or maybe he was the Ducati MotoGP coach who teaches the riders about the lean angle to get round corners!

@George1 will have to tell us if he made it then.

My latest charge yesterday from Riom, near Clermont Ferrand to back home in the Dordogne.
She is called Vega, is 10 months old and was quiet and no trouble the whole 3 hours back. Got on well with my two too. (That isn’t a frock btw)
She is the one on the left, about to emerge at destination.:

A hello kiss for Sharon:

And her party piece, imitating humans:
