Driving licences

oh god catherine mine is still the old paper thing we had. I did try and change the old english one for a new one on the web but no luck? I kept getting the reply we are unable to process your request.
The reason I am asking this was I was stopped today for not stopping long enough at a junction. I had not, apparently, stopped for 5 seconds??? Anyway I was asked for my licence which I had left at home, but I think my guardian angel was around that day as they let me off.

If it is an EEC licence it is valid wherever you live unless you’ve been asked to exchange it.

Don’t you just love gendarmes who make the law up as they go!

I was under the impression that a UK licence sufficed, until I was stopped and fined 90€ for not having a French licence as my permanent home is France. So the risk is always there.
