Electric Bike Restrictions?

Not sure about that . I do occasionally see groups of cyclists riding abreast, sometimes taking up most of both sides of the road. :open_mouth:. Usually on a Sunday and usually all going very slow and talking.

Very fair comments Cat. I’m sorry for distracting you from the other serious matters you are dealing with.

From what’s been discussed, it’s still not clear if your electrically-assisted-bike is allowed on the towpath … so I would ask at my nearest Tourist Office. If they don’t know, they’ll surely be able to find out from their colleagues.

You can’t be the only person wondering about this sort of thing…

best of luck

For me what this thread has confirmed is that there is no regulatory difference between pedal assist e-bikes & traditional ā€˜push bikes’ i.e. if cycling is allowed they are both acceptable.

For the OP @Mike313 the use of the word ā€˜motorised’ would not apply to an electrically assisted bicycle i.e. he can ride his e-bike on the towpath.

What is not acceptable is anything that can proceed under it’s own power.

Well, if no-one else will do it… I’ll ask at a Tourist Office next time I’m near one

I’m a belt & braces type, who likes to be absolutely sure…

In that case you need to ask more than 1 tourist office in case of bias and we have felt a bit of that on this thread :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
