Employment in SW France

Hi,
learning french is important as we sometimes speaks other languages but obviously France speaks french.
My partner started with Duolingo and some basics lessons, as I can’t really manage to teach him, it’s not as easy at it seems. I often take things for granted and a proper teacher have much better method.
I help by talking to him every day with basic slow conversation.
Once you are in the country and forced to speak it will be much easier and faster to learn.
Don’t get overwhelmed or discouraged, it’s not easy but it wasn’t for me either when I moved to UK.
Little steps, don’t focus on the grammar to start with, watch kids program with subtitles, they speaks clearly and slowly. Ps i am a nurse to… It will be easier than you think

We used to have 4 very good seasons. Cold, but dry and bright winters. Stunning Spring and Autumns and nice summers in mid 20s. Now we get very hot summers with no water - we lost several 1000 fish to drought 2 years ago. Winters are grey and slushy, so instead of donning snowshoes to head out the door it’s battling slush and ice. Spring and Autumn still pretty good but not as they were.

And I can no longer do 25km hikes in the mountains, so there comes a point of why are we here if we can’t take advantage of the wonderful stuff the Jura has to offer?

Fair enough.
Certainly we’ve noticed it’s been much wetter here the last couple of years. We hardly did any mountain biking last year.
All my friends are in Strasbourg though so it would feel weird to leave. Although I could definitely be persuaded to spend January & February elsewhere.
Best of luck with your move.

Fair enough - “Generals Janvier and Fevrier” were the ones that defeated Napoleon in Russia.

I used to quite like Moscow in the winter. The snow covered all the shit!

It was beautiful, wasn’t it? And eating ice-cream when it was -20.
I was a lot fatter then so I didn’t notice the cold.
