China has been setting up police quarters in Canada, Netherlands and other countries to ‘monitor and control’ Chinese people living elsewhere, regardless of what residency they have taken. All this without the approval or knowledge of the host country.
Apart from the danger to anyone wishing to exert non-PRC freedom of speech, there is also the spectre of pressure being applied upon foreign residents to perform tasks on behalf of China.
