Here you go @Ancient_Mariner ![]()
This has been going for 30+ years in the UK. Particularly Hampshire, and has done/is doing some great stuff.
I wish this were an official, across-the-board development in France but I haven’t seen much sign of that; at least, not up here in Hauts de France. I am Rewilding part of our land, which is an LPO refuge, and am also creating a food forest. I am an educator who volunteers in our village school. All my outdoors/ecological efforts have come to naught. I have given pumpkin seedlings to my students; none ever mentioned them again. The little ‘potager carré’ on one side of the school is unused for years, also despite me engaging with the head teacher and giving her plants.
The students go for a walk/hike locally once a year, in the last week when the heat is often oppressive. That’s the way to encourage kids to get out there!
If anyone knows of an existing French program that I could try to get our school using, I’d love to hear about it.
Is there a CPIE that covers your area? Ours does good stuff with schools and kids.
Actually, a technician from CPIE came to inventory our huge wild pond a few days ago and I discussed trying to make ours a pedagogical garden and she didn’t say anything about being able to assist with that. But I didn’t specifically mention the school so I will write them. Thanks for that suggestion.
