Kafka got there first

Kafka aside or anything else  . I can’t read through the whole thing. What does this really mean for people travelling between France and UK?

Nothing at all - it was a brief suggestion or thread drift. Happens all the time…

Okies. So what does it mean to uk travelling to france or the other way? Got lost in the drift

Not a lot for the next couple of years, it looks like. At some point well end up being fingerprinted but who knows when.

Except going into the UK, if not a UK citizen, as I said in another thread when it comes to collecting more money there is no delay in their plans or backtracking.
ETA will go ahead and cost double the ETIAS which is further delayed. Bet the EU increase the price now?

Rumours abound with an earliest introduction of July 2025 but others by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Anyone heard anything?

I thought that they were going to do EES first or has that changed?

From what I saw, hence asking that has also been pushed back with possibly starting the two at the same point, if anyone knows anything else?

Dover saying November!

No need to panic just for a bit then.

Sometime 2026?

Hello all. If I’m reading the gov uk site correctly. I will need to apply for one (from the 5th March) for my wife who only has French passport and French ID card?

Agreed, for travel to the UK from 2 April…

Looks like I’ll be getting my application in then: roll on May and our first visit of the year.

Hello. We’re going to wait until maybe a month before we travel to make the most of the two years as we are a couple of tight wads.

That’s the UK system, ETIAS not expected until 2nd half of 2025 at the earliest and EES ā€œsometimeā€ in 2025.

Hello. I’m looking at several sites, including the official ETIAS site and (being a dumbkopf) I have no idea if we will need these. I am British national with permanent French resident card. My wife is French national and holds only French passport and ID card. I’m particularly interested in the situation for travel between France and other continental Europe countries eg Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland. Anybody in the same situation? I’ve already found out via this site (thank you) that my wife will need ETA for travel this June but the rest for later is a bit unclear?

As a foreigner I think I’ll probably need it.

Not to enter UK

Well, unless you don’t have a UK passport.

Irish passport holders won’t need ETA.
