Expresso machine a dosette

I had a food processor from Cuisinart.

Not from that country

No, not fixed for me. If I use a “beans to cup” machine you are limited to the one kind of bean you put into it. With a pod machine I can have a different flavour and strength of coffee each time I make a cup. For example, later in the day I like to switch to decaff.

Well that’s fine - but why are you trying so hard to tell people who find coffee pods more convenient and of acceptable quality that they are doing it all wrong and should switch to what works for you?

I am expressing my view on pods v cafetières
In my opinion, which I thought I was entitled to on SF, they do not both make coffee of equal quality.

FYI. My In laws were given a new nespresso machine by one of their children and not a hand me down. I don’t know if they have changed over the years- perhaps newer nespresso machines make better coffee now than they did when they were first brought out.

Off to make some coffee, not saying how I am going to make it!

Theres no right and wrong way (there are some wrong ways:wink:) , it’s all down to individual tastes, preference and convenience

Yes it does, which sometimes suits me.

I often start the morning with an XXL capsule in my L’Or capsule coffee machine. This gives a nice medium mug-sized caffeine ‘hit’.

If I want a coffee later in the day, I often want something a little weaker, so I’ll put a regular (espresso) capsule in the machine and press the ‘lungo’ button to get the equivalent of a French café allongé.

Sometimes when I want a big mug of coffee, I’ll use an XXL capsule and press the ‘lungo’ button followed by ‘espresso’ button, (= more water, same capsule) so it’s a longer slightly weaker drink than my morning coffee.

I was surprised how many options the capsule machine gives you if you like different strengths/ volumes of coffee. Plus they have a range of coffee ‘strengths’ and styles to choose from.

I also have a (cheap) grinder and several (different sized) cafetiéres. I have a couple of bags of whole beans as well as packets of ground coffee, which I keep in the fridge.

What I use and the strength/size of coffee I make depends on what I fancy at that moment.

That’s great. We all like to have different things to drink at different times of day. How people make their coffee is ultimately up to them of course.

Now, how about a discussion on tea making?

Anyone remember a company who introduced some sort of instant tea donkeys years ago? Perhaps it’s time to bring it back on the market? (I, of course, am far too young to remember it but I did read about it ).

Start a new thread and I’ll join in :hot_beverage::teapot::hot_beverage::winking_face_with_tongue:

OK Mike

You bring the cakes and I will bring the tea.

Seem to have gone off coffee suddenly!

I remember instant tea. It was bloody awful!

Real tea leaves, brewed in the cafetiére.

Perhaps if instant tea was brought back in pods to be out into a machine to be made it might become a best seller?

Corona. How about real tea leaves brewed in a tea pot?

Conversely, we bought a Zanussi machine that comes with 4 adapters so it can use Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, ESE pods or ground coffee. All the bases are covered.

We actually bought it when we were living in Yvelines but had the house in Vienne so we now have that and a Krups bean to cup machine. Since I’ve been banned from caffeine for a couple of months, the Krups has decaf beans and my wife uses the pods to get her fix.

Banned from caffeine? No tea either?

How will you manage?

I’m not a tea drinker so I can cope :slightly_smiling_face:

After 2 months, the treatment has finished and the ban is lifted but I’m so used to it that I’m not sure if I’m go back to caffeinated coffee.

Then you need a strainer, I don’t have a teapot or a strainer and the cafetiére is easier.

Why not? Had dinner with friends last night and a surprise to hear one of them has been through exactly what you have and is fine now and everything downstairs is still working properly.

I’m not saying that I can’t ever have it again, I’m just wondering if I’ll bother. At the moment the bladder and urethra are still a bit irritated from the radiation so caffeine and alcohol are advised against as they can add to the irritation.

Interesting how different coumtries view things. I would agree on the alcohol though. We are all different so if you find it irritating then best avoided for a while but coffee is supposed to be good for prostate cancer.

I’m still having the coffee, just not the caffeine.
