Farmers’ demonstrations, is your area affected?

I think that they have blocked the N79 because there is a constant stream of cars on our D17.
Beautiful day here too.

I think the distribution depot at Brest was being blocked by the builder’s confederation members yesterday but nothing else reported on the main news half an hour ago on TF1. It won’t be long before its all out again as is what usuallyhappens here.

My wife received an email from Ryanair advising that the farmers’ actions will be until Monday 29th.
I will assume the worst, which I guess is that it will last until late Monday afternoon / early evening.

Thanks for the information especially as I am hoping to go to Saint junien on Tuesday. A lot of mess to clear up I suppose by the ‘council’

I have to travel from Roumazierers-Loubert to Limoges late Monday afternoon.
I’ll post an update regarding the farmers’ blockades when I get back.

I liked your innovative take on this (not being sarcastic!), but presumably any tire replacement costs will be tax deductible?

The A20 junction the top side of Limoges where you turn towards the airport and past Family Village was blocked solid on Thursday and judging on the amount of old tyres and general farm rubbish that was dumped there I imagine it will be blocked for a good while.

I think that they have blocked the N79 because there is a constant stream of cars on the D 17.

Is the Relais at Etagnac still open ? I used to eat there quite often, especially the Sunday lunchtime where they had a brilliant seafood spread.

Narbonne had an interesting day yesterday. The MSA office was set on fire and badly damaged. Fortunately, the office was evacuated when the farmers turned up. Also the entrance to Carrefour was set on fire. Farmers set fire to stacks of pallets and manure outside both buildings. The Interior Minister was quoted as saying that there was nothing that could be done unless they attacked the police. Wonder if burning people to death would get a response

What a bizzare thing to say, is it down to the shops to provide their own private force in which case things could take a sinister situation.

Rather different from the non-violent demonstrations about the large damaging agricultural bassins d’eau in the Marie Poitevin where the police fired rubber bullets at the public.

I think so, there were several cars parked outside when I passed by yesterday.

I agree, their Sunday buffet is exceptionally good. Its been on my to do list to go back for lunch one day.

Most are non imposable as income so far below the tax threshold so no it’s a real cost they incur in tractor tyre wear in order to attend the demonstrations

Oh it’s ok to shoot those awful things at shiftless troublemaking dirty young eco freaks who don’t know they are born and have never tasted honest toil and probably come from a city, but quite different when it’s your uncle Gérard and his mates. Pffffffffffffff

Just read something by a brexit voting racist family member about how calm the dutch and germans are when demonstrating and how disgusting the french are for destroying foreign lorries and their loads. I put my argument across about how the french work till they drop, pay high taxes and charges and we all support them and their products but he would not have it. Really hate those bigot racists brexit has created yet…they are happy to holiday in the EU, well not in my house any more!

Not hugely keen on the home grown xenophobes and racists who are anti-non French products either, and trash european imports. They seem to have forgotten that a massive part of their income is exporting to european countries and getting grants from Europe.

And of course physically damaging supermarkets is a really clever negotiating ploy. The only people who will pay for that is consumers.

They were always there, and certainly aren’t exclusive to Britain. Sadly.

Just got back to Roumazierers-Loubert from Limoges.
Took one and half hours!

The dual carriageway section of the N141 between Chabanais and St.Junien is still blocked.
There are mounds of manure and tyres on the carriageway and at the entry to the slip roads.
I guess that it will take all day tomorrow to remove crap and clean the road surface.

Access to Chabanais from Angouleme and Roumazierers-Loubert is now completely blocked (was open on Saturday).

The best route is: Roumazierers-Loubert - La Peruse - Exideuil-sur-Vienne.
At Exideuil take the D165 towards Chirac. Just before Chirac turn right onto the D59 which is the back way to Chabanais.
From Chabanais, its then Etagnac and onto St. Junien.
The dual carriageway from St. Junien to Limoges is clear and open.

I’m due to go over to Perigueux tomorrow, but not wanting to take deviations through smaller roads… might have to stay home…
