What I find with Wes Anderson films is that they get under my skin (in a good way). They are so distinctive, so quirky, that long long after I’ve watched them I still have their imagery in my head.
I have not watched The Royal Tennenbaums in nearly twenty years yet I still have a sense of it that lingers.
Loving it. Just started series two. I’m amused by the fact that Mackenzie Crook has written it and directed it and has cast himself as the romantic lead.
Just heard “The Weight” playing on OH’s computer and remembered it was used in one of my all-time favourite films - The Big Chill. Watched it so often. Fantastic cast. Incredible soundtrack.
I had a real crush on Diana Rigg in my early 20s. Sad she’s gone.
When I first saw her daughter in the detectorists I recognized something in her face. When later I saw that Diana Rigg was also in the series I put 2 and 2 together - googled - and I was right!
I’ve become so enamoured by the detectorists I downloaded all 18 episodes and have merged them together in one long 8.5 hour video. I’d like to see it in one long go instead of once a week. Don’t like weekly series.
I shall have to plan a day with all meals laid on and sit back and relax!
Pity there isn’t a short novel with all that magic woven in.
I’m not one for watching horror films, but tonight ‘War of the Worlds’ by Steven Spielberg was on TV, and that truly is a horror movie. Great movie maker is Spielberg. If I had to choose a favourite horror film it would be this one I think.
Possibly meant to be that way, he did write the series and is one of the comic actors from the Office series, assuming the ‘tall man’ you refer to is the unshaven unkempt detectorist.
