Favourite French Idioms

A pal used to use that one [in Brooklynese] but with “… on a flat rock” tacked on the end.

As he was an out-and-out New Yorker who described people walking in the countryside as “wandering around in the bushes all day” it was vanishingly unlikely he had ever seen a cow pissing at all, let alone on a flat rock.

In this morning’s Press…
“Un homme nu comme un ver trottinant dans les allées du lac Mouriscot à Biarritz.”
having seen the photo, I deduce that …
nu comme un ver = stark naked
