I believe that @Rik_Newell runs a shop specialising in decorative paints, so I suspect he has a fair amount of specialist knowledge.

Step 1 was using isopropyl alcohol to even the stain out. And then a crayon to lighten it a fraction. Will let it sit until next changeover and then try to lighten it further &/cover it.

Brilliant Jane, I think most people would not even notice it now! What did you end up doing?
After the isopropyl alcohol I crawled around the skirting board to scrape out tiny flecks of the paint. Which I put in a miniature container and added a bit of water and left to rehydrate for a day or two. But it was a bit too watery, so now have a drip. But much better so can probably live with it,
Bloody good effort though Jane. Probably blend in with a bit of aging, dont forget thats nearly new paint so bound to be a bit of difference to the old.
