You may still choose bifocals or varifocals after cataract surgery because, almost certainly like beforehand, there will be no natural focusing range, so having glasses that work both for near and far sight remains convenient.

The folk I know of in our village only need sunglassesā¦ no longer their old specsā¦ but what sort of specs those wereā¦ I 've no idea.
