Going through Airport Security with a Pacemaker

Ah, I didn’t realise it was a 4 day trip, so definitely not worth the extra hassle, hopefully they’ll have it waiting for you at Bordeaux.

Many years ago we arrived at Bordeaux but our luggage stayed at Schipol airport, can’t fault AirFrance, they delivered it to our hotel next day, in Cognac!

Reminds me of when I met my Aussie mate and his wife at Bordeaux after 40 years since I left Sydney. They arrived on time from Paris and Fran was waiting at home with the slow cooker timing a delicious stew for our return, but their luggage was still in Paris. AF said they would send it on ‘till they heard I was in a different Departement and we couldn’t go without because Dennis’ heart pills were in his case but they said they would pay for our meal in the resto while we waited. In the event their version of ‘a meal’, was a hamburger and a cup of coffee. We paid for our own and waited ‘till the case arrived.

I should have said ‘Aussie mates, husband and wife’ because they were teenage sweethearts so I knew them both equally. She still keeps in touch while really missing Den who died of a heart attack a few years ago.

I was so convinced our luggage would take days to arrive, next morning we went out shopping, first stop was a pharmacy to get toothpaste etc, girl was shocked we come on holiday with nothing until I told her the tale. She was all sympathy and said not to bother buying anything, she gave us some of the free samples they get, including wash bags and some lovely perfume. Everyone was so helpful, it made up for one of our expensive but much traveled Samsonite suitcases, arriving with a broken wheel.

Pity you missed out on their version of an emergency overnight kit. It compromised of a huge white t-shirt, tiny tube of toothpaste and a condom!

Easy to say, but essential medication should always be carried in hand luggage. Ideally with a copy of its prescription.

Well having gone through a similar procedure at Limoges it puts my loss of an expensive leather belt in perspective. I haven’t seen it since and there has never been anyone on the information desk to ask on 5 visits there following the loss.

Sorry to hear your bad news. Fingers crossed, I’m there tomorrow morning. The Bordeaux airport website has quite a fancy photo of the “objets trouvee” office - apparently Hall B, near the douanes. I’m hoping I can dig out some photos from Amazon - I have quite a fancy i-pad case - that will separate my black i-pad from the other 50 they are holding. At least I know exactly when and where I lost them.

Exactly what I thought at the time, but, although I haven’t done much travelling since my heart problem, I don’t take my pills everywhere and I am wondering if I was to go further if I would remember to.

If you have another Apple device, iPhone for example, you can use the Find My app to locate it. After four days of non use it should hopefully still have some charge :slightly_smiling_face: It works by the device talking to other Apple devices around it and them feeding back its location to Cupertino (or somewhere) which reveals it to you, or anybody in your Apple “Family” if you choose.

It’s very handy, I lost one AirPod once and managed to find it on the side of a path I’d been walking on half an hour earlier. My wife’s away for a few days and I can see all the devices she has with her and even my daughter’s Apple stuff in Oz. However, it’s not an ideal app for those engaging in infidelity :joy:
