Happy-Post. A cautionary tale

We paid for everything ‘upfront’ to send presents to Australia it took a whole day to find and note the customs codes for Oz family’s Xmas. Not only did Fedex open every gift and not rewrap them, they also charged double the value of the contents. Our €180 parcel eventually cost €685 and some change. My grandchildren (aged four and two) unfortunately won’t be getting any more presents.

I can. My Banque Populaire bank card has a credit option and although it might not offer all the same perks as a U.K. credit card they do recommend you use it to buy electrical goods and the like because it does give you more protection than a debit card. I can also control it online. As a default there is a set monthly repayment which I can change and there is no need to pay it off by the end of the first month, I could simply pay the monthly repayment until the credit is paid off. I don’t use it very often but even when I had several U.K. credit cards I didn’t use them much either but it is a useful backup if I needed it. It can also be used to withdraw cash on credit but I have never done that.

I understand, half my family is in Oz. We either buy online or send the money with instructions.

Good news. We have now received the refund from Happy-Post into our bank account.
Took a bit of persistence with e-mailing back and forth, but we have achieved our objective in the end.
