Have you a very useful app to share?

Excellent subject this is!
One of my apps (iOS) :

Yuka - scan barcode and see if the product has too many additives, salt, fat

Hi Krister. Interesting list but what would be helpful is to choose one particular app at a time and give a short explanation of what makes that particular app special.

And you make a good point of stating what operating system(s) it works with.

Thanks! I have edited my posting to show only one app.

I didn’t mean to be critical of your original post Krister. I meant in addition to the list a useful description of a single app would be useful.

And yes, Yuka is very interesting and I am testing it on everything I can. Works ok on Android. Thanks for the tip

I have a complaint Krister.
I showed the Yuka app to my health conscious wife. As we did the usual shopping round yesterday I watched in dismay as some of my favourite items were removed from the shopping basket as too unhealthy.

What did they consider unhealthy, that’s the thing as many nutritionists follow like sheep without always knowing where that information came from or if relevant.

I used it in Australia, very convenient and helpful.

Here is a screen shot of a random product to give you the sort of info it produces.

Yep, utter bollix. Its fecking cheese! French been eating it for centuries and one of the lowest heart problem countries, go figure.

Your post about Apps reminded me of why I prefer not to use them. The publishers of Apps love us to use them because the Apps are made to harvest data from us.
I’ve found a good alternative. On my Android smartphone I installed the Firefox browser. I then added the Ublock Origin, and NoScript extensions to Firefox and linked the browser to my Firefox account.
When I want to open Facebook I do that from within the Firefox browser and I get an advert free experience. This also works with other web services.

It is information! What you do with that information is up to you. I still eat and enjoy it which is why it was in my pantry to use as an example . Which bit of that information did you disagree with.

Duckduckgo is brilliant at blocking adverts and preventing tracking by other apps.

And quite salty cheese so not something to eat a lot of.

Yes, although I’ve moved to Quant now.

I think that very much depends on the person, its not a problem if your blood pressure is in or near the std levels. Our bodies will regulate sodium in most cases so you pee out any excess. Those with high blood pressure should just monitor the effect as not all high blood pressure sufferes exhibit the same response.

Likewise Brave which also blocks adverts on YT.

Exactly.
2.2 gm salt per 100gm
Just use the information you need.

Plus 1 for Brave browser :+1:

Can’t find it. Do you mean météo and radar France?

Horrors

Qwant annoys me because it looks too much like Google (in terms of its design and colours), and I’m trying to avoid Google’s stranglehold. The DDG duck makes me smile, especially when he puts on a hat, and as he protects my privacy and gives me satisfactory results, I love him  !
