Health care and PUMA

Wow Alison that is the best response I’ve had!! With no disrespect to yourself, how do you know this for a fact,?? Everyone seems to KNOW the answer but cannot back it up with facts. If what you say is true life just got a whole lot easier.

The link she provided sets out the criteria and conditions for those on low or no income. What you haven’t mentioned is your residence status. Have you got permanent status, or still in first 5 years?

Hi, still in the first 5 years.

Then it might be more complicated for you. There is a play-off between health care and residence rights. During your first 5 years here you have to meet criteria for legal residency, which includes meeting the basic minimum income. Which your rental income probably provides, but you don’t want a nasty shock a few years down the road and have permanent residency denied, so probably best to keep on investigating the right thing to do now to make sure you are seen as proper “inactifs”. It might mean booking an appointment at your préfecture to confirm things.

Si vous êtes de nationalité étrangère hors EEE/Suisse* : vous devrez justifier que vous êtes en situation régulière au moyen d’un titre ou document de séjour en cours de validité. Which of course you have, but the validity rests on meeting all the criteria for residence,

Thanks very much Jane, appreciate it.:+1:

Countless years of professional experience!

@tanyaharris it would be interesting to hear any feedback on the final result if you have time.

For anyone that may be interested, this morning I received a response to my previous message sent through Ameli and it was confirmed that one does not need to take any further action to remain in the French healthcare system if you close your autoentrepreneur account. This conflicted with separate advice received from a ‘professional’, so pleased to receive the confirmation.
