Hello from someone looking to relocate to France

As a French national all I can tell you is that if you plan to take on any employees it becomes extremely expensive!! You also need to check on what your personal contributions cover and especially if you need to claim unemployment at any time…. Generally it does not cover it. You need to contribute extra. Good luck

I have been in and out of France for a long time, and admin has never really bothered me. If you can find a good adviser, aren‘t confident in your own abilities, and can afford it then yours is good advice. Sadly I have seen too many people being misadvised by hand-holders and getting into difficulties because they didn’t really understand what was happening/what they signed/what their ongoing responsibilities were.

It can be painful working through things oneself, but ultimately that be worth it for the future. Anyway the more one understands then even if using a handholder you can at least ask the right questions to keep them on the right track.

Good luck. Patience is the key when dealing with applications, etc. my driving licence exchange took over 8 months.carte sejour nearly 6, for example.doctor dentist may prove difficult. Have you thought about a mutuel? (Health cover).

I have been seriously ill (cancer) and found the health care absolutely fantastic. Thankfully my french is good enough to deal with everything up to a point, but without my other half, who is french,it would have been pretty difficult. So improving your language skills is vital. The locals will like you a lot more too!

I can back that up from experience of having three employees when we had the building firm here. We just kept paying and paying for them on top of their wages and had nothing for ourselves at the end of the day. Its very expensive to fire someone too and you do need a good accountant who can do all those things for you, again more expense

I am French!!

The self employement system is very complicated and yes you definitely need good advice. If you do take on employees you pay almost 2 salaries one to your employee and the other in contributions! Best wishes.
