Good one @Susannah - I never thought of pronouncing it like that. 
The situation in the UK is the same, since Covid animal welfare has gone back 50 years and UK shelters are overloaded too. France just doesnāt have the infrastructure that the UK does, to pick up the peices and even if animal protection laws here are better than the UK, they are not taken seriously.

A few more photos of Beans. Heās settling in quite nicely, as you can see.
My friend says heās all teeth and claws at the moment. Heās taken the liberty of trying to sleep in one of the dogsā beds (when the dog was absent) but hasnāt been introduced to them yet because heās so small and they are so big (boxers).
The third photo is in the workshop with my friend - she runs a small laser printing business. I think itās so cute and so apt at the moment.

I was glancing through the BBC News website this morning and saw this
I couldnāt actually read it - itās too horrific for me to even contemplate what these evil bastards do.
All I know is that I wish they would rot in hell 
Unfortunately thereās a lot of awfully sick people out there, wishing them all the worst.

@Rachel05 I unfortunately looked at the screen and now I cannot get the pictures out of my mind. My OH is getting concerned because I keep crying. That activist needs a medal.
If I was ever to witness the slightest cruelty to any animal, I would happily go to prison for my actions.
The bastards need to be caught and ā¦ I would be first in line.

I second that and I know for a fact that my OH would too.
I had to stop watching those YouTube videos where people are helping animals who were cruely treated ā¦ Iām going to have to stop there because itās really not good for my mental health
I try and concentrate on the positives.
I canāt put into word how much I bloody love animals, but I get the feeling you understand completely

An update on Beans:
My friend sent me some more photos of the lad ā isnāt be a beauty! And she wrote :
He is a typical ginger cat, absolutely adorable one minute, and the next, you can see the evil thoughts take over and he goes into what I call āpsycho ginger modeā.
Hands, arms, feet and legs are not safe from his claws and teeth, but then he turns back into an angel and puts his paws on my face and licks my nose !!
I think heās a lucky kitten - he certainly landed on his feet (bearing in mind how he was found) with his new owners.

Having spotted the latest (massive) influx of kittens in our coin, resulting from the large number of feral cats aleady in existence and breeding in the fields (and our garden), we went to the vetās today to ask for advice. They sent us to the Mairie. It looks like there was a scheme, funded by the Mairie, just over a year ago, to catch and sterilise as many of the cats as possible.
They clearly didnāt get any of ours! However, the Mairie has traps if we are in the mood to trap them ourselves and get them sterilised. Weāre prepared to do that, although getting all of them done would be prohibitously expensive (and thatās if we can catch them). I suppose my questions are - "do you think itās at all feasible to get a discount for quantity at the vetās? " and āhow do you use the trap - put food in it?ā

When we were in Greece last year, the small island (Antiparos) we stayed on had an island wide program to sterilise female cats. They would catch or trap them sterilise and release after notching their left ear. The result was there are very few kittens left to die of starvation after the tourists leave.

I wonder if there is some help from somewhere if you are prepared to catch them? The Marie didnāt offer any? Maybe look for an association that perhaps has links to vets who will do it free / low cost? Worth a bit more research I think! Good on you

There are often annual programmes run by the SPAs for sterilisation, but are usually fully taken up with a few days of launching.
Our mayor did manage to get an extra 20 slots years ago, which made a difference. But we still have the problem of people putting food out for them, so until that stops it is a bit of an endless cycle.
Certainly worth asking about! Your next association perhaps?
