Sadly true in so many places and impacting so many species. Over the last thirty years or so I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Southern Africa off the beaten track, and constant encroachment of man and commercialism is more ams more visible on every trip.
However it doesn’t apply to wild boars.. There’s a plague of them in many parts of the World, including France and as far afield as Australia. It’s not hunters that are needed, it’s a massive cull. I think the only two creatures I can’t stand are bloody sangliers (though I like warthogs) and Herring Gulls. I’d happily mass poison the first (a very humane poison is in development or now available, I believe) and spend weekends with a twelve bore reducing the population of the second, if it was legal. That’ll teach them to steal my chips.
On reflection, I also dislike Hyenas. Sneaky animals, they slope around as if they’ve just been caught doing something wrong.
I think my favourite animal is the cheetah, there is an intelligence in their eyes that I haven’t seen in any other big cat. Quite the opposite indeed. A lions eyes are cold and really only range finders. I like wild dogs too. Very collectively minded animals, for hunting and for minding their youngsters.
