My brother was given his very first telescope when he was 7 years old. 
It’s a pity he died in 2018, he’d have loved seeing this one come to fruition.

Has MR played TM ? I thought he played Thomas Cromwell in the adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s trilogy.
I LOVE that painting but then I love Holbein (and Clouet, especially drawings).

Mark Rylance was absolutely fabulous as Thomas in the series adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s book that I saw. One of the old style proper actors that can communicate everything just by blinking at the right moment. .

Doh! Thank you Vero. I think I was so struck by the likeness I just made the switch. I haven’t seen Wolf Hall, much as I love MR (superb in Bridge of Spies) precisely because I think he was miscast.

We watched him in a film called ‘Waiting for the Barbarians’. I think he’s a brilliant actor and as @KarenLot says
I saw an interview with Tom Hanks who said he was in awe of MR. He’d never known such stillness.

I’m a big fan of Dirty Dancing and this Times article is about the hotel complex where the film was made. I found it very interesting about why it was set up for Jewish people in New York because they weren’t welcome elsewhere a long time ago. It sounds like an impressive operation. I hope the weblink works.
Me too, seen it several times, it never palls, I would watch again if it was on.
Apart from the 2 stars, who were brilliant, it also featured one of my favourite actors, Jerry Orbach who, away from that and one of the first detectives on Law and Order, he was a big star on Broadway. All the lights were dimmed there when he died in 2004.
