Internet - has anyone moved from Orange to Sosh?

Interesting how a thread on internet has morphed into electrical heating etc…

For sizing, you can simply measure the water coming out of the shower e.g. how long to collect 2 litres, then based on how long you shower you can calculate your consumption, then likewise estimate what other water you use. The 45litre tank I now have is good for two people. And if you need more water, it heats up quickly. Leaving the cumulus on all day consumes more elec versus strategically running it e.g heat up before getting up and top up heat in the evening. And for me now, what I’ve discovered is that overground pipework from the water tank subsidizes my hot water for free in the red hot Summer :+1::+1: At some stage I may add another 80 l cumulus to the system so I have opportunity to increase the hot water availability when I have guests. This would be added such that I could ‘isolate’ or ‘add into’ the existing system as needed with valves.

The blurb about that model you have recommends 100L for 2 people… Another make recommends 65L. I can’t see needing more than 65L and, as you say, a small tank reheats p.d.q.

A bit of a brilliant wheeze would be for my water feed to the balon to run in a zizgzaging across the front of le cave, the wall painted black and facing as it does, due south. Lots of extra heat when the sun shines. A diverter valve to the short run indoors, to the tank, for when it’s cold.

The water coming out of the overground black pipe I have in the sun is absolutely scalding. Many other jobs currently, but I’ll be harnessing the sun more next Summer for elec and hot water - it fascinates me :+1::+1: great for the environment and great for the pocket :+1::+1:

Another of my brilliant wheezes that didn’t get finished [ the usual story] was to instal a 1.5m x 60cm domestic radiator flat on the rear end of the roof of my ‘camper’ [that never got finished … pattern emerging here]

I painted it black on the sunny side and sprayed foam on the underside. The pipe connections were to have been run to a tank under the van and hot water the result. In full sun, it was dangerously hot to touch.

It would have worked if I’d got it done but everything came to a halt doing a removal run Spain < > France.

News just in ! Javid and Sunnak resign within minutes of each other.

Rats … sinking ship …

… and so, M’lud, I rest my case.

So it was the hot water cylinder then :+1::+1: very satisfying to get a result :partying_face:

I switched from O to Sosh today. Part of the burble is about going to collect something from a Point de Relais -

a] I can only assume it’s a Livebox, of which I already have one.

Alternative syntax:

b] I can only assume it’s a Livebox, one of which I already have.

I think b], don’t you?

Missed the €14,99 sp offer but €19,99 against rock bottom Orange deal €36,99 is a gt saving. Tho’ straight to Fabien, ++, for a mute, along with €29 p.m. saved in insuranc for my van.

I think it’s v cheeky of Sosh and Orange to offer fibre and ADSL at the same prices, €19,99 and €36,99 respectively. I s’pose that’s to make the move to fibre financially painless - for now.

Considering moving to Sosh for Fibre and mobile phones - this thread is a couple of years old, are people happy with Sosh?

Moving from RegloMobile to Sosh as signal on Reglo not great where we are, it costs a little more and I need it for work.

I’ve had Sosh mobile and internet for quite a while and, touch wood, delighted with both :+1::+1:

I’m on Sosh fibre out in the sticks and it’s marvellous so far.

I moved from Orange to Sosh over a year ago. Their online-only service system seems far more effective than using the Orange call centres and my bills are now about half the price I used to pay with Orange. I’d really recommend making the move.

I used their web site to arrange the transfer from Orange to Sosh and the handover was completely seamless - no need for any LRAR termination of contract letters etc.

What about the speed and reliability, @_Brian ?

Curiously, the speed is marginally faster (5%-10%) than I had with Orange. No idea why as it’s using the same cables and infrastructure :slightly_smiling_face:

Reliability has improved with Sosh. They will occasionally text me saying there may be a local problem, and simultaneously credit my mobile account with 200Go of data.

I have had to contact them once in 2 years via their app to say that my landline/internet had cut out, and I was texted on the mobile when they identified the problem with an indication of when it would be fixed. They predicted 36 hours but it was fixed in about 15 - but they also credited me with 200Go for my mobile account.

It’s very helpful to have internet and mobile with the same provider where the 2 halves seem to work in unison (before I was with Free for mobile…).

When I was with Orange, I had to contact them 4-6 times per year.

My package with Orange includes fibre internet (unlimited as far as I know, TV, landline and one mobile phone). Cost is €80.21 a month. Wondering if I switch to Sosh whether I would keep the same landline and mobile phone numbers?

Yes, you can keep the same numbers.

My experience as per Brian. No probs.

If I switch to Sosh, do I get to keep my existing Orange box & TV decoder?

When I changed from Orange to Sosh I kept my LiveBox - I didn’t/don’t have an Orange TV decoder though. You could ask on the Sosh online chat - it’s bot-based but seems responsive and accurate.
