Is Alexa spying on me?

It crops up as a device in various books by Borges as well.

Funes the Memorius !

This old memory seems to be working quite well, because although it’s decades since I last read Borges, I’ve still got all his books.

Being visual, it never occurred to me that those with other representational systems would struggle. Perhaps they could compose a song or set trigger points around their body (might be embarrassing if on a public stage :grinning:

It’s one of the key problems in communication - people who are visual shouting at people who are not “Don’t you see!!!” The answer is, no they don’t. If I remember correctly something like 30% of the population are at least partially non-visual in the way their brains process their world.

This morning I was in HMV in Guildford buying some CDs, got chatting to the cashier and the conversation for some reason turned to films starring Ed Harris.

I could feel the cogwheels in my brain grinding rustily into action as I tried to recall the movie in which he played a WWII German sniper.

I was quite pleased with myself as the cogwheels finally clicked into place and I was able to say “Enemy at the Gates, directed by Luc Besson and also starring Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Joseph Fiennes and Bob Hoskins”.

ETA: The DVD cover above made me smile as it illustrates the politics of whose name goes where on such things.

Jude Law’s name comes first, but Joseph Fiennes’ is positioned slightly higher, so that they both get “top billing”.

Yes you are right. If I had been in therapy mode I would have given it more thought. In this instance I was just relating my personal experience.

Apropos of learning and remembering, yesterday we had to sit through a training video for the new company health and safety reporting system. The presenters appeared to be AI generated and the backgrounds were constantly moving plus there was music without relief too. Just a dreadful, distracting presentation to me with far too much going on, yet for some it was just great.

We learn and recall in different ways.

Nail on head. I think that was exactly the point SuePJ was making as maninfest in the different representational systems we use.
