Mondial are a low cost ‘quick’ delivery network to delivery points across France. Not in the pallet business. Yes pallet networks exist, such as Geodis, but prices for one off deliveries not cheap - I estimate they would charge 100€ for a ‘one off’ delivery of 100kgs. In between Mondial and Geodis are the online collective agencies for small ‘man with a van’ operators at maybe 60€.
I have not use pallet shipping for a while but it was £80 so about right in euros. I may pick some up from a UK distributor but I estimate petrol cost is around £30 unless I can find someone closer in France but then I get trade in the UK so that will probably be the best option. Years ago there was a distributor up in Boulogne which was very handy for picking up orders on my journey.
That sounds like a lot for you and your wife to go through.
Life can be very tough at times.
I didnt know they planned these ops a year ahead. I assume it gives you both the chance to discuss everything with the surgeon.
For my wifes case when we get back they will start radiotherapy we dont know yet how long that will last but the plastic surgeon wants 9 months healing between radiotherapy and plastic surgery reconstruction so likely to be early next year hopefull March/April but we believe its a long healing process after the reconstruction as its using own body tissue and not a silicon implant.
Success at the brico for Javel yesterday.
Not sure what’s going on with Périgourdine.
I think you mean, does their job and follows the company’s policies.
I really don’t get why you need to be so obnoxious towards junior employees who don’t have the authority to diverge from their employer’s instructions.
Thats a good question John. Maybe because a droid just follows blindly without question whereas a junior member of staff would ask why the company has such a policy so they can then offer that policy reason to a customer who may well have travelled many km’s to get there just to be told know. That junior member of staff would show initiative and would most likely progress in their career, droids are just there for the pay check.
It just feels like punching down to me and frankly, if someone’s ambition is limited to collecting their pay each week so they can do something more interesting than investigate Javel then that’s up to them.
It takes all types to make a world, and an organisation. People who are happy to turn up, do their thing and go home are just as necessary as the high-flyers and all those in between.
Initiative isn’t a word frequently used in french job descriptions
Indeed not. In fact it’s rather discouraged. First response to an enquiry - usually “no”.
Yesterday I was in my least favourite local DIY store (it’s because I’m old and female, I shouldn’t be there!) Heading for the queue I spotted a robot lawnmower for under 500 € on top of its box. So I squatted down to read the mower details on the side of the box (no wire needed, no satellite, all done with a camera). After I’d finished reading I stood up to see a middle-aged assistant on the other side of the isle, looking at me suspiciously (maybe his mother in her seventies doesn’t behave like that?). I said “bonjour”. He grunted and didn’t move. The man’s an idiot. He probably could have made a sale.
