Here’s the lamp tubes and lamp base. Looks to be a relatively well-made desk lamp. Will see what the repair shop can do.
It’s quite weighty as well.
Now that I can see the tube better - it appears to be a single tube on a G23 2-pin base.

These have a built-in electronic starter.
It might need no more than a new tube - if not, as previously suggested, the cable could have an internal break in it as it passes through the flexible neck, or the switch is a bit dodgy.
Either way probably a simple fix.
EDIT: yes, it is a G23 - says so on the housing, now that I actually look at the pictures full size.
Thanks - I’ll get a new tube. If the problem persists the repair shop can have a go.
Or bypass the ballast and fit LED alternatives.

For illustrative purposes, you may prefer a warmer 4000k or 3500k lamp to the rather harsh 6000k
