šŸ”„ Log burner/Woodburner Recomendations & Advice Please

We have an Austroflamm - very happy with it - solid, good quality. Only gripe is that it has a spring-loaded door which you have to hold open for cleaning or refuelling. This is some dumb safety regulation in Austria, where they are based, apparently. Unless you’re the kind of numpty who would leave the door open on a roaring fire while you go to the pub, it’s actually more likely to lead to an accident than to prevent one.

Spot on. We do the same, works a treat. Absolutely no need for noxious chemicals.

Think very carefully…you become slave to wood…and it is so bad for you as everything you open the door you get a lungful of carcinogenic particulates. CITIES in UK are now banning Wood burning.Get Govt help and install a heat pump.We have climbing.inSummer and a constant 22° night and day all winter. We spent 20 years being slaves to logs!! MUCH cheaper bills ,no dust, black ceilings and no more wood beetles landing in our dinners.Brilliant!!

So, please correct me if I’m wrong, but you don’t appear to be very keen on log burners?

Or use of the space bar. :frowning:

Just dont fry a breakfast or vacuum your house as you will get far more particles all day rather than a minute from the log burner. Dont believe what you read in the press.

Thanks @Tricia_Monk, I’ll be sure to check for warping of the baffle plate and sides. And, yes, I’d love a JĆøtul! Hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to find a second hand one. :crossed_fingers:

Thanks Tricia :slightly_smiling_face:. I have been looking but couldn’t see any in my area but will keep on checking.

Hi Sarah,

We installed a wood burning stove with cooking facilities, central heating and hot water quite a few years ago but had to change it when we extended the central heating system as it was not powerful enough to cope. It will heat up to 4 or 5 radiators and has a 18kw output. The French translation says 16kw which is probably more accurate. We no longer need it and would like to sell it. The local installer at the time suggested a price of €1200 but I thought it was much to high so would accept a sensible offer on it if you were interested.

PM me if you are interested and would like further information. We are in 82.

Thanks @Elizabeth_Cox

You are welcome.

We had thought about €500 as being a fair price but we are open to offers. It is probably a more functional poele than you need so I hope you find one that suits you better soon.

Thank you @Elizabeth_Cox . I hope you saw the PM I sent you too.
Best of luck with the sale - that’s quite a reduction from the valuation!
