Yes, I was just going through what we had to do… at that time… and show how easy it was… and presumably still is…
I was in the same boat, got letter in March after over 12 months. Weirdly they didn’t tell me about the new site but they rejected my application as being not necessary! I was so fed up I’ve ignored the issue since. Thanks for the links to the site. I will have a go!
Do you have a British licence? If so once the changed the rules to allow British licences to remain valid until their expiry date they no longer accepted applications to exchange those with more than just a few months to run.
I’ve got an old paper one.
They won’t have seen that as a priority.
I had a little spare time last week so tried to swap my license on the new ANTS site. Based on my experience I’d give it 1 out of 10. When I was presented with the list of documents required (about seven of them) I plowed my way through uploading from my (very well organised) filing system. All uploaded fine but I left the proof of address to last as that has to be recent. I logged on to EDF, downloaded my last bill, chopped of all but the first page and went back to ANTS and clicked to upload it. The ANTS site said I had been bumped off for “inactivity”. Pretty silly IMO, it’s not a banking or other sensitive site. So I logged back in and started the process again - however halfway through it tells me I’ve an application in progress and can’t submit a second one. So, it looks to me like I have to wait until somebody in the “Permis Department” reviews my application and bounces it back to complete the documentation. I guess the developers were charged with producing a system that was as inefficient as the old paper process, and they’ve over achieved.
Is there any chance you can list the documents required so that other don’t get in the same position and can have all of the required documents ready?
The list is readily available…
I have read on ANTS or here on the forum… “make sure you have everything ready before starting the process”
it’s happened before…
Off the top of my head…
Proof of address.
Old Licence.
Passport.
Birth Cert (I gave them a certified translation but maybe original will do)
Proof you live in France.
Proof you have lived in France for more than 183 days.
I think that’s it.
You need to be quick on the app Mat. I keep everything online so I had all but the recent EDF bill scanned and ready to go before I kicked off the session.
You can’t though Stella, because you’ve already started the process before it gives you the definitive list of what you need.
There’s not much point in having assembled your proof of having lived wherever you got your original licence, your proof of having not being a veteran of the Algerian war and your maternal grannie’s knicker size if it’s not actually required.
No, the app bounces you too quickly. And it fact, it shouldn’t bounce you at all.
It’s a bit like Mastermind,… I’llhave to hurry you.
It’s a darn nuisance when these things send you round in circles.
I had thought we went through this ages ago… when it changed from post/personal to ANTS…
the documents required have always been the same haven’t they???
Anyway… looking back at that is no help to you. (and I bet the air was blue…
)
You’ve raised a valid horror story…

and folk need reminding/learning just what they need to do and how to do it…
The Service Publique will provide the details on “what docs”… you just have to click on whatever is your situation… then gather the necessary… (with or without granny’s help)
I guess it’s not an area for investment Stella. The "clients"have no comeback. It’s a badly designed application that was just knocked together IMO. I’d be ashamed to have produced it.
Anyway, I’ll wait and see what happens next - I’ve another three years to run on my license. Having started the exchange process about a year ago that should be almost enough time to get it sorted. It could be tight though
Good grief… why are you trying to exchange it now… if you’ve got 3 years to run…
do you know something “we” don’t ??
I’ve a very tidy mind, no “just in time” for me
Except for big decisions, I always that them at the last possible moment so I have all the latest info.
Perhaps insanity or maybe glutton for punishment… more than tidy mind…

Exchanging DL etc has caused folk a lot of grief… systems overloaded etc etc… and you have added to the mountain… all because of your “tidy mind”

Well given that it took two years and 7 months to exchange mine, perhaps some caution is a good idea.
Yes, my paper application languished somewhere in their system for months then got returned.
now… be fair… you are 3 years away from renewal necessity… no wonder they returned your paper application…

Breaking news Stella… after searching in the bowels of the ANTS site I stumbled across a link to a page where I could update my submission. All seems to have been accepted into the process now. Waiting with bated breath.
Just as well I found it because I could have been waiting for the cows to come home…
that is such good news… phew… keep us up to date… many are in a similar situation (albeit not 3 years ahead of themselves)
