Maybe coming to a road near you!

Ran a gold MB 280 CE like that one for six years, loved that car with its fantastically high build standard and luxurious interior appointments, but always thought of it as very comfortable long distance cruiser and couldn’t imagine throwing it around bends!

Well done, sounds like a fabulous trip!

Didn’t you have to pay extra for the hinge in the middle if you wanted to go around corners?

Actually, having done three point turns at my mother’s place in many different cars, that CE despite its length, had a surprisingly small turning circle.

friends called by… last week… on their way to the starting-point at Bilbao

The Tulip actually started from Bordeaux a couple of years ago. It’s a technically tough event.
My Amazon was built in 2016 for renowned Dublin driver Frank Fennell to compete in the 2017 Tulip (and also that year’s Winter Trial)

Dutch friends do this rally (and many others) year after year… and now the son is old enough to be a driver in his own right… so they’ve both taken a car.

He was our company photographer.

The Irish Times refers to his navigator Kevin Savage. Kevin is a renowned historic rally navigator (having competed in most European events) and also a successful driver in his own right
He is also possibly the UK’s Volvo rally specialist- his garage built our Amazon for Fennell and now looks after it for me.
His garage in the N of England is a petrolhead’s delight - at any given time you’ll find around 10 or so cars there being prepared for events as diverse as Le Jog or Peking to Paris.
Volvos (PVs and Amazons); MGs, E Type, Lancia, Alfa, Ford etc
