More eco-madness

Of course it is my friend, along with sociology, economics, psychology and voodoo ;-)

Anybody who agrees with the utterances of Anders Breivik, if anybody has followed some of the things he said in court and despite him claiming to be perfectly sane, is a bit unsteady up top, so Motl is NOT going to get the next Nobel prize or any other. Right must pop off to put a piece of Greenland in my gin and tonic ;-)

What, pray, is 'anthropological climate change ideology'? I am extremely curious. You see, by training and behind all I do professionally and have done since the end of the 1960s I am a social anthropologist. I avidly read our Royal Anthropological Institute journal 'Man' and other anthropological publications and must say that I have never seen that 'ideology' referred to.

You may well regard him as "small fry", but he is one of a large (and growing) coterie of physicists and scientists who believe that the anthropological climate change ideology is a bad one, is unproven, and unnecessarily alarmist.

Laugh, and hope that you're right, Celeste!

The respected physicist when looked at closely, which is what web searches can do for you, Luboš Motl is actually small fry who is acting as if he is somebody of greater importance. His political comments include comparing Islam to Nazism and expressing sympathy for Anders Breivik's idea of a necessary war to prevent Europe from "becoming a part of the Islamic civilization". That is somebody with a very large flea in his ear, or...?

The piece you give in your post is clearly malicious doggerel and sexist rubbish as Celeste says. The Torygraph, as we all know, loves any excuse to kick France. If there are some measures to reduce electricity wastage then so what? It is hardly as if our homes are all going to be switched off. Anyway, what makes any of this EVIDENCE? I am sorry to say that press reports of this kind do not constitute evidence by any serious person's standards.

Chris, the North Korea line is silly. Where is the comparison at all possible? France is a country that runs on a state capitalist system that looks to some people like some kind of Stalinism when PS is in power and mismanagement when UMP or other conservatives have their turn. North Korea is a totalitarian state that claims some kind of socialism but is actually an extreme nationalist society. There is nothing resembling any form of socialism in either, so no argument. Anyway, political ideology and putting off lights hardly make good bedmates. But then Dr Motl has wacky political views that appear to rub off.

The link works OK for me.

The country may well be bankrupt, but turning it into North Korea will do nothing for anyone, particularly on the pretext that by doing so we will be "saving the planet". Unfortunately those in high places with the green ideology and credentials seem to be holding the cards at the moment, but what goes around, comes around, and hopefully eventually common sense and sanity will prevail.

It's quite true, and whether or not you think Lubos Motl is misogynist, the basis of what he says is correct (and he's not alone saying it).
