Day 1, set up scanner/printer and filing system. First file is the “dossier”. All main papers on paper (and electronic form in filing system) to be taken everywhere.

A thought occurs to me.

I do all of my banking online, so I will have to print my own statements.

Would that cause a problem for French administration?

You are supposed to keep bank statements for either 5 or l0 years (sorry can’t remember which, it can be found online) as proof of residency/banking transactions etc so printing a hard copy each month/trimestre is something you should do as the online statement disappear after a while for good!

Seems a bit counterproductive when we’re encouraged to go paperless

I think my bank keeps them online for 15 years or something, certainly over the length of time required. No way would I waste all that paper and timeprinting off, not needed!

Hej Flavia og velkommen! Jeg var udvekslingsstudent i DK for mange Är siden, det bedste Är i mit liv!

Where in DK are you? I lived in Vordingborg

I don’t know that area, I’m further north in the middle of the Dordogne. I have kids / teenagers and work as an English teacher in a technical highschool, so please feel free to ask any schooling questions. It is VERY different to Danish schools.

Its 5 years to be kept in case of investigation etc.

Well I didn’t know that, I don’t get a paper statement from Yorks Bank and haven’t for several years, although the taxman here is aware of that account as it is declared every year. Since Fran left there will be only 2 incoming and one outgoing movement on it. The savings account that they persuaded us to open against our better judgement has always had, and still has, the 32 pence we opened it with. Similarly declared though. :innocent:

I download them as PDFs, and keep them carefully stored, but I don’t print them unless necessary.

Ej hvor sejt  We live closer to Copenhagen, in the suburbs!

We really liked the Dordogne. But we fell for the Pyrenées

I am also an English teacher - and thanks a lot for offering help - I might have a question or two!

The problem with Danish weather is (apart from the constant wind!) that you can never count on the summer (or spring for that sake). Last good summer I can remember was in 2018. In general we have a few days with temperatures going up to 27C if we are that lucky, spread among a lot of cold, grey, windy and rainy days. And I’m talking about the summer. I’ve had enough :face_exhaling:

Not sure what PDF is but at least you have something recorded by the sounds of it and not left to disappear from your online banking. I have tribunal papers that I have to keep for 30 years and files of wage slips also until am no longer around.

My daughter received her marriage proposal in Copenhagen in 2015. Her boyfriend had to get special permission from customs at both ends to take the ring through as it was very expensive.

I just worked it out, I was there 30 years ago this year :upside_down_face:

I wouldn’t be able to follow these days! Such a shame I lost it as I was quite fluent by the time I left!!
