I tried that with same result. To convert the account to joint account I need a permanent carte de sejour. Sometimes I feel like I am getting a big run around.

Can you get a joint account? Or get your name added to your partners account? Maybe you've already tried this.I don't know enough about the french banking system to suggest anything else but I'm sure someone else will.
