I remember we had a « Super Soaker » water pistol years ago which worked well against a big fierce black cat that used to come into our garden. But not for long, after being repeatedly soaked !
Our next door neighbours up the hill moved about 6k down the valley a month ago. We’ve just caught and returned their cat to them - it’s the 4th time he has returned to the village since hhey moved.
Regarding dogs catching cats, one of ours was sat on a wall taunting the dog of another neighbour, not expecting that the dog could clear the wall. He chased her up the garden and ito our shed with murder in his mind, and if I’d not driven him out I’m sure he would have killed her.
Hence my question on what sort of dog. I love cats AND dogs, but my money is on the felines in an altercation ![]()
Did you witness this? It’s all sounding a bit bizarre to me.
We have 3 cats. One, we brought with us from the US (he’s a redneck, called Finn). Two Frencies came to us in our garden. The smaller female,Lyuba, wanted to come in from the cold 2 years ago, and eventually she let us know that she wanted to go out. So we let her out most of the day. She stays in our garden, mostly, but she wanders, too, just like she did 2 years ago. But she comes in at night and to have lunch. She’s much happier now. The other Frenchie, Vanni, is a male that we found sick and almost dead in our garden. He was starving and had a nasty infection from some injury on his tail…perhaps a dog bite? Anyway, we took him to the vet and he got some antibiotics. He’s happy to stay in our house and eat well where there are no threats, only treats. Cats are all different.
