New validation issue with Wise

Yes I did a test transfer of £5 this morning to see if I would have the same issue - I didn’t.

I use my Lloyds Bank credit card or my Yorkshire Bank debit card while I am in UK (a distant memory) and my Banque Postale debit card in France.

Never have a problem.

What is TFL?

I’ve never transferred to Wise using the :Wise takes direct from your bank account" option. That has always felt like it could get complicated.

Wise is on my list of payees same as other payees for my UK account. I always push from the UK account rather than pull from Wise. Touch wood so far not a problem.

But since about the past two years, the busybody banking authorities enforce that the name on the account in my payee list for UK account that I send to must match the name on the receiving account ie Wise. Which could easily be a married name vs a single name, my company or trading name, etc. Doesn’t matter if that’s what the receiving account has as its official name on the account in my payees list in my sending UK account. And of course most of my payees are not my own accounts but people I pay money owed eg accountant. What’s in my payee list as the name of the owner of the account must match the name on the destination account.

At the time this enforced match was brought in we were of course told it was to protect us. I decided it was more sbout protecting the banks as they are liable in a lot of cases where payments are made that shouldn’t be eg to scammers.

I am braced for something along those lines too, because David is my middle name and there is a variation everywhere with different orders for them but thankfully I haven’t had a problem yet.
