Don’t know about the Portal but we are very very lucky here in the Cévennes where most public lights are off by 22:00 to protect the biosphere and to preserve the drink driving culture .
Joking apart, folk come here on vacation just to see the night sky which is as good as the night sky off the East Coast of Scotland where after you can see the Borealis. Trip tastic!
Just looked out and seen the crescent moon and Venus… need to wait a little longer to see Jupiter and the others… 
I’ve just been out and seen the crescent Moon but the others are too far round and behind the trees.
It was tooo hot to go outside, so we looked through the upper windows.
Marvellous sight, the moon + Venus at first with the horizon looking like it was on fire.. other stars came gradually into sparkle-view but we didn’t see the whole thing.. no matter, it was glorious.
