Not in France.
Are the French secretly masochists?
No, they’re French. Wait till you get here.
I think I would be sending a “Mise en Demeure” letter to Orange’s Legal Department. By email does count, for a Mise en Demeure.
I’d attach all proof and request immediate cessation of their harassment for the debt already paid.
In the UK I’d give them 15 days to cease these unwanted inaccurate communications which constitute harassment and formally state in the letter that this is my formal Mise en Demeure to them that for each communication on this matter received after that date in 15 days’ time, per communication your facture to them for its reception and treatment will total 20 euros per communication received.
No idea if French law has something that lets you apply such a fee but it might be worth a Google. Sending such a notice has worked a treat for me twice in the UK and both times unwanted communications stopped as soon as the letter waa received.
It was something of a rhetorical question ![]()
I reckon it may well be easier and more effective to deal with the Hussier rather than to continue to repeatedly tell Orange that which they plainly cannot understand.
After reading all this I was worried, because we just changed from Orange to SFR, but it was no problem. I sent back all their stuff with the parcel sticker they sent by email, and the next day they acknowledged receipt and sent the final bill.
I have experience of Orange.es and Orange.fr.
Orange.es was appalling. When I tried to take a fibre service with them the agent told me that the deal advertised on posters on every bus shelter did not exist. Then she said that, in any case, fibre was not available at my address - a city centre street in Spain’s #3 city. I said I could send a photo of a man on a ladder installing a box with the Orange logo on it on the wall top rt of our doorway. She put the phone down without responding. Calls back were rejected.
Here in FR I have had good service from Orange.fr and when I switched to their low-cost Sosh company, I still got Eng lang helpf from the Orange help line.
I’m eslewhere now simply for cost.
As everyone knows I fell out with Orange. I must admit the helpline were at least trying to be helpful but engineers who lie about whether I was in or whether they had turned up and done the work took the biscuit.
Especially as the fault was intermittent and could easily not have been obvious and taken a competent and honest engineer more than one visit to sort.
I got home Monday evening to find no internet service.
I found the help page (using 4g) and was able to enter my details and check the line
It reported that there was a fault, a request for a fix had gone to the engineers and service would be re-established by Thursday at latest. No access needed to property and leave livebox switched on.
Meanwhile we were given 200 go of data on each of our
phones to use as hotspot etc
Last night (24 hours later) Internet connection was repaired,
Orange is not all bad! .
A similar thing happened with a relative in the UK, with a well known phone/internet company. He’d cancelled, but they didn’t follow through, and it reached the point where they were sending a bailiff round to collect the ‘debt’. Thankfully I managed to find an email on their laptop sent by the company to confirm the request to close, and that shut them up. Without that it would have been impossible to prove.
I think with Orange, it is best to confirm everything with a recorded letter, this way you have official documentation of your request, and they won’t be able to pursue with any success. With a phone call you have no history that could be used from a legal standpoint, unless they sent you a text message.
