Fibre connections into houses only used in cities.
I live in a small rural town (population <2500) in Normandy and have fibre-optic internet directly into my house.

I agree with Peter, you have your information wrong. France is rolling it out all over. Our small 1000 people village has it. Sadly (well not sad where we live - it is lovely!) we are in a hamlet 350m from the main road (2 km from the centre) so don’t have it!
Same here - small town in Charente - fibre direct to my home.
