Yes the new Orange decoder can work over Wi-Fi, and it’s generally more reliable than the old powerline setup (though Ethernet is still best if ever possible).
Your friends would not need a decoder if they only want Netflix, they’d just use the login on their smart TV. The decoder is only needed for full Orange TV channels. You’d be the ones benefiting from Apple TV and Canal+ at home

Good news we went into the Orange shop and signed up for Orange TV. It will cost us about 4€ more than we were paying but now get a whole load more channels with Netflix, Apple TV Canal + etc. We set up Netflix on a Friends TV as we share Netflix costs with them.

We also upgraded to a Livebox 7. The setup was very complicated and had to phone Orange but the help Guy was great. It was necessary to have a smart phone. I was going to install the decoder myself but he said that was complicated so as he was on the phone he talked us through it.

Best Regards all

Without paying subscriptions to them?

I was wondering about that. The deal I saw was an additional 5 a month for each one

Yes a subscription for Netflix, Apple TV and Canel+ is part of the package and you can share the Netflix with two other people. It worked out about 5€ more than we were paying for our Orange account and Netflix. The package is for two years but it goes up after a year by another 5€

Quick question the system has been up and running for a few weeks and generally seems to work well with one exception. Every evening when we switch on the Orange TV box it has lost its WiFi connection to the router. The router is sending out a good signal so anyone have any ideas why it keeps disconnecting and is there anything we can do about it?

Maybe the frequency band, i.e. 2.4GHz and 5GHz? Some of the smaller last generation IOT units are only really happy with a 2.4GHz connection. If your Livebox is broadcasting over both frequency bands, which I think is the default, it can lead to units that are wired for 2.4 losing connection as the 5GHz frequency signal cycles. If the TV box is happy with both, then maybe some channel interference between the two signals?

Thanks I will look into that.

Oh!!! If they gave me some pugs I might consider getting a TV

Hi just looked at the Orange wifi map and it is running at 5 GHz can I change it to 2.4 GHz

Yes. I’m running a Livebox 7. It’s not obvious but in the Orange Et Moi app, I can drill into the config by clicking the picture of the router. Then I can click the WiFi icon (the part that says “WiFi, mot de passe, planning”), and finally this part:

I can then see the names and passwords of both the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. By default it’s the same password for both but I can change the name and/or password of either by clicking where it says “Personaliser votre clé wifi”.

I have received an offer for Livebox 7 from Orange but can’t see how it will benefit me. What is so special about it?
