I had a problem submitting a photo for my passport renewal some time back. I tried numerous photos (all taken with my phone) but each time their website said the photo was too dark. I web searched and found it was a common enough problem, resolved by ignoring what the website said and submitting the photo anyway. That’s what I did and there was no further issues. I was really rather impressed by the entire process tbh. Excellent levels of communication from the passport office.

which is what we did. I’m sure their algorithms will improve overtime

Just had the old previous passport delivered to my door by DHL, two days after the new one arrived. That again, a lot quicker than stated too!
