Pension help

Well it’s done.
I faffed for a while and finally upon changing a password, got into the impots site, and realised that for what my eventual rewards will amount to, I really shouldn’t have bothered :joy:

It’s time I’ll never get back :person_facepalming:

Did you get a full forecast, broken down by caisse complémentaire as well as retraite de base?
Have you looked at your career history and is it correct and complete year by year?
If you have paid in a decent amount of cotisations over the years you should be due something. Generally if rhe amount due is too small to make it worth paying a monthly pension they pay you a one off lump sum which is nice to have.

If you don’t want your pension then I’ll have it however small.

As the OP has got his results, I hope it’s ok to tag my own question to this post please? I thought I would look at my French retirement prospects as an autoentrepreur for the past 8 years and never earning enough to complete any trimestres, it seems I am entitled to a very ( I mean very!) small pension at age 64 and 10 months, which increases by about 75% if I wait until I am 70. My question is, why 64 and 10 months? It may seem a small annual payment but , having paid the social contributions, I feel I can still take it guilt free.

It should all be explained somewhere on your espace. Might it be based on your date of birth and the phasing in of the increase in pension age?

One thing my accountant mentioned to me when I was working as a sole trader was that I hadn’t earned enough for RSI to take contributions towards my pension… apparently, according to her, all other deductions are made before any pension money is taken.

Sounds daft, but she was adamant that this was the case…I was in no position to dispute it, due to my ignorance of the subject.

If you were registered as an ME then the number of trimestres you validate each year is based directly on your earnings. For prof lib from memory you validate one trimestre very approx per 3k of turnover. So eg for a year when your turnover is 7000 you will validate 2 trimestres because you did not earn enough for 3. 4 is the most you can validate in a year.
But earnings for the year would be very low to validate 0 trimestres. I still feel you may have missed something. Have you checked your career year by year, have you checked the calculations for each caisse?

There is a table here if you scroll down

Hi, normally there is a link through the MSA website (which has much improved over the years) to France Connect. I’ve already used it several times to keep an eye on pension info.

Extraordinary! You got to see someone face to face! I went through the whole process without meeting a single bureaucrat. Phone or post only. But then I’m in the big city…

I was out in the far wild west of Finistère so going to the caisse was easy.

I have in fact since found out that there were 4 years for which she declared 0€ or made no declaration at all…

“she”?

his female Accountant…

Do you mean, you had earnings but they were not declared to the fisc? And you paid no cotisations? It is hard to see how that could happen without being picked up on.

Yep
As Stella says
My accountant was a woman

When you’re not an accountant & simply submitting, signing & paying, it’s surprisingly easy.
Ignorance is no plea, but I had lots going on, all the time that I was working.

I never stopped paying my cotisations…I received the notification from RSI & the money was deducted on the due date each month.

I meant, I am surprised the tax office did not pick it up if no tax return was received.
But if you were paying cotisations then the absence of a declaration to the tax office, would not affect your pension.
