I rather feel the same is likely for tv gardeners who almost always have an immaculate and large plot. I think “you haven’t done all that on your own”.
On taxe fonciere that would be nice but I dont think we would be allowed to form our own commune. Instead its taxe fonciere on the lot, taxe d’habitation on everything apart from our main residence and of course cfe. Plus tourist taxes. France loves its taxes.
I did look at ways round this but apart from spending a fortune to physically connect all the buildings or sign contracts not allowing us to use our own properties we are stuck with it.
What annoys me is the extensive use of plasterboard. Also turning rooms into bland, often white, boxes that give no indication that one is in an old building, or in a chateau. Recall viewing a completely restored 1832 chateau … lovely 1832 outside …. not a hint of chateau or 1832 inside!
A very tricky balance in some cases, wanting a modernish-ish finish and benefits like insulation whilst as you say not ruining the look.
The Strawbridges had sponsorship. I wonder how long her pretty quilted wallpaper, I thinkon a spiral staircase, could be wrong, lasted. Damp, anyone
About as long as her face I reckon. I do not admire such plastering, if I want to see a clown I’ll go to a circus.
There is an elderly lady in our village called Joceanne and must be older even than me. She walks with short steps with her little dog and shoulders slightly bent, but the only facial adornment she has is a touch of eyeliner above her startlingly blue eyes. Her nickname is Bridget Bardot and I can see why because she is reputed to have been in her young and middle age very beautiful. She seems to have a bit of a soft spot, or concern, for me because she goes out of her way to connect by shaking hands (we are not yet at bisou stage and I always let the lady take the lead) and I think it is because of my health events this last year.
David that is so unlike you. I am surprised.
Have you seen his first wife?
What, only seeing real beauty? I have seen his first one but so long ago no idea what she looked like.
