Our Bob was from the SPA and yes much was unknown, but they did take great care to assess whether we would be a match and inspect us. Including a long interrogation on a walk too. It’s hard to remember the very skinny, stinky and highly nervous dog we collected when I look at him stretched out on cool tiles and 100% relaxed. He’s a lovely dog that deserved a home.
Good afternoon! I have a low insurance wuth KOZOO. There are several options, I cover for accident and illness at about16e a month, 70 per cent and up ro 1000e per year.He is young and strong but a player and chaser and goes very fast after a hare… recently he had to have a treatment for an ear infection, otitis I think it is. Anaesthetic as no one to get near him to look, bill coming in at around 300e. Yes, the insurers always win but I was glad to get a bit back. My shepherd before tyhis one had a hernia on the diaphragm, 2000e and I did not have insurance; so… but there are many levels which I think is good…but insurers will make money.
We don’t have pet insurance either, and have had 6 dogs since being in France. We adopt older dogs from SPA etc and just give them a good home (we hope) for their final years. So a bit of illness etc is to be expected. Our local vet is excellent, expensive but excellent. We let our dogs go when it’s time, so we don’t have huge or ongoing bills. We’ve only had 2 put down, when we judge they are no longer enjoying life. I’d love to be able to exercise that choice for myself come the time but that’s another debate.
More or less my own attitude, Marko. ![]()
Mine as well. I mean, an animal doesn’t know how long it is supposed to live. It’s our problem to deal with it.
We recently had an operation on our dog which cost over the annual sum assured. Quite amazingly the full amout was paid and we paid the excess. Post covid everything has gone up so we asked to increase the sum assured to keep pace with the current climate and obstacles were put in our way. We looked around and found another insurer willing to take the higher sum assured with an 18 month clause on the previous surgery. See how that works out. Pet insurance seems to be more of a loan scheme with some insurers where if you had a credit card for pet insurance and never claimed it would cost nothing and if you did claim the monthly cost post vet bill would be similar to a monthly insurance premium
