Well, maybe Graham Green would like that. Lasers are good for volume.
An inexpensive Epson or HP (I have both) tank printer is the solution for home. The Epson has a more reliable interface but the HP is a front loader and takes less space on the desk. The only reason I bought it, having been an “Epson man” for many years.
I agree that dedicated scanners are better, but who really needs that, and the scanners on run of the mill printers are high quality these days.
I’ve had an Epson V70 flatbed for almost twenty years. As far as I can see there is no better punter flatbed on the market today, just revamps of the same (V700 
). I
I bought an Epson FF-680W when they were launched in 2018 (a pal had to get it for me in the US) and it zapped through my family photo collection. Thousands of photos scanned front and back (for notes etc.) . There is no better device available today either. Scanning tech has reached its zenith I think.
