Provision of doctors

My annual blood test results a year ago showed, and I was surprised, that my red blood count was a little low, outside of accepted limits, and when I asked my doctor about it, he snapped – “It’s nothing!”

Since he disappeared from the scene recently and I now have a new & younger doctor, I asked for my usual annual blood test which was due. Later on, I noticed he’s added something to the prescription I’ve not seen before. He wants to know my vitamin B12 & Folate levels. I’m assuming he saw the low red blood cell count when I pointed him towards my annual blood test results of a year ago.

Or is it normal for UpToDate doctors to ask for this anyway for senior citizens?

I’m not worried, just puzzled.

I think it’s normal, I haven’t had a blood test since I last had a baby* so my new dr has sent me off to have everything checked, cholesterol, thyroid, whatever, you name it. It’s just because he’s my new dr and I’ll be 60 next year.

So don’t worry!

Seems to be, plus vit D if not already on your list. Presume your standard is full blood count, lipid panel, glucose, liver enzymes, kidney , cholesterol and ESR/CRP?

All of that I think, including PSA for prostate.

I get a blood test every year from my MT. I don’t know everything that’s on it, but it runs to about 8 or 9 pages of results and needs 5 different coloured vials of blood, extracted by the nurse at home. Luckily for me, it’s always been normal, and long may it be so.

My OH tried to make an appointment with her MT but couldn’t as we were told she is not available we’ve no idea why. So she was given an appointment with another doctor within the group. I checked on this doctor and it turns out he doesn’t accept the CV. So even though she is on an ALD she would need to pay the full fee of 25euros?

If she pays, she should receive the paperwork from the Dr… so that she can use it to put in a claim with CPAM…

It’s happened in the past (occasionally) to my OH…

Thanks

Not accepting a CV just means that the doctor is not set up with the machine to be able to claim directly from CPAM. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t covered for the cost.

As Stella says you will have to pay and reclaim, so make sure they give you the brown feuille de soins that you then have to complete and send to your CPAM. Double check that the ALD box is ticked.

Incidentally… I always carry our Attestations in case the CVitale isn’t accepted/used for whatever reason.

When printing the Attestation from one’s Ameli account, the option will be given whether or not to “show” certain details (like ALD) and I make sure that I have the copy which shows “everything”… :+1:

Good idea!

geoffrey you need to tick the box “mentions complémentaire. - exoneration du ticket modérateur.

Interesting @Bonzocat and @JaneJones

Have just finished Doctolib videoconf with doctor. Mentioned the disappearance of previously established note of her as Médecin Traitant in the system and that CPAM had insisted I ask the doctor to put herself as MT again into the system.

I mentioned I’d been told that it is now possible for the doctor to do this directly online in the system and no longer have to issue a paper document for this to send to CPAM.

Not so, said the doctor. She said can still only do this by issuing a feuille that I will have to send to CPAM. Issued electronically in Doctolib since my appointment was a videoconference in Doctolib, so easier, but she said issuing a document and patient sending it to CPAM is the only way. She also said the MT had probably disappeared due to a bug in the CPAM system [of which it seems there are a few
].

I’m in 46 so perhaps the ease of doing things online in each department CPAM can vary.

Certainly they did it for us. (47) We did nothing.

Hum. I need to move to 47

Except for the nightmare costs some of you in 47 seem to have for rubbish collection.

The Lot (or at least my little bit of it) seems to keep most things simple and on balance I like it.

Just to confirm that my new doctor (17) used my carte vitale to insert himself online into my records as my Médecin Traitant.

That’s not what we did. The new doctor did it all for us.

Shocked to read this

14 years of Conservative government.

However, we have dental appointments booked in London in March since we have not been able to find a dentist within 100km of our home here who is taking new patients. So it’s not completely true. UK dentist was one we went to before moving here and is happy to treat us again.

(We did have one 4km away but after he drilled through OH’s tongue, and then said he refuses to treat refugees, he is on our boycott list)

Interesting that this thread should pop back up, my doctor has just won ‘health personality of the year’ in some awards thing for his scheme to attempt to tackle the ‘medical deserts’ issue somewhat. He’s a lovely guy and I’m always so impressed by him, this is very well deserved.
