Rewiring American appliances to accommodate French electrical power supply

Hi Mary, You have a good answer from Mark. But I did answer the inquiry to answer David’s remark.

Your remarks and summary were quite helpful. It was the cables, yes that’s the word. The indirect relationship of voltage to current rating/draw, helpful. Thanks.

Hi John, have moved around the world several times. And, bringing US stuff always with me. ( I hate re-buying) Basically, I have a box with country specific plugs. Most of lamps etc I simply change the end plug and sometimes, for lamps, the bulb holder. For big stuff, I have a monster backup converter. Weighs a ton… I tried over the years to bring my washer/dryer with me but finally gave up on that one. Otherwise, just make sure everything also has a surge protector and you should be fine. This will be my first venture into France, so others will have more expertise for that.

@Kvk This is a four year old thread.
