So, what’s the latest news on this car… has it now got all its bits and bobs in good working order??? and are you proudly driving it over to France ??

Spent two and a half weeks recommissioning it in the UK, only to find the petrol tank leaks on my test drive/first fill up. Not good when you’ve just spent £218 filling the tank. The previous owner had a daft massive Le Mans tank fitted despite the car NOT being a Le Mans replica. Hey ho, at least the leak isn’t from the bottom, and the vast tank at least means I could drive a long way before refilling to leak level. Ran fine, engine a bit tappety, but didn’t have the tools for that job. All fine till just before I left the UK, when noise got worse. Got a tad past Le Mans when the noise got louder and it started misfiring. Parked up in a Carrefour cart park and called the breakdown service. What a shower. Promised to take me and the car home, then took the car back to Le Mans for storage and expected me to find my own way home. After complaint, they eventually arranged a taxi (reluctance explained when I saw the taximeter read €687 … for not much over 100 miles). Delivery of the Bentley promised Tuesday or Wednesday, but then delayed until late next week! I’ve arranged my own collection, for Monday. Hope I can fix it as I hope to drive it back to the UK on the 17th.
