Yes and no. It may help everything decay faster so smell goes more quickly. I feel for you tho’, we had a similar mouse issue and took about a month before we could breath easy again.
BIg bowls of baking soda seemed to work best, and citron diffuser.
It is actually, because they will dry out quicker and the smell will go.
In the meantime, put Vicks vapour rub under your nose. I saw Vera do that in one episode when she was visiting the path lab when Billy was dissecting a corpse.

We hated having to do it, but it wasn’t one rat, it was dozens, chewing through the walls and along the skirting board, and a new generation appearing. We had tried everything else, but in the end a professional was the only solution. Now we have to pay the price. 
(On top of the 233 euros).

Baking soda
Baking soda will absorb odours but won’t eliminate them. The same goes for activated charcoal. You could also try white vinegar, coffee grounds, and anything else that might mask the smell (such as lemon, or the smell of a cake baking, or anything else that smells nice!)
Hopefully this is the ‘beginning of the end’ of the terrible problem you have been having with rats.
Obviously, once this infestation has been eliminated, you can undertake remedial work to block up the holes and repair any damage, and give everything a good disinfection.
I’m guessing that you will need to take measures to prevent a reoccurrence. If your pest professional gives you advice in this regard, please pass it on.
